Din a nin a nin a (Lego) BATMAN

So our Ben had a Superhero party last week. Now, imagine he had invited you. (He didn't mean not to invite you. After all, strangers are just friends he hasn't met yet. But there's a limit to the number of people you can sleep on one sofa.*) You're sitting there thinking "just how can I wow my new Firebox friends with a superhero costume?" Well, were you thinking Lego Batman? Of course you were.

Meet friend to Firebox, Pete "All Kinds of Awesome" Wycherley.

BATMAN3sized
In typical Yorkshire fashion, Pete here didn't want to fork out on buying a costume for the party, so spent three weeks making this. Scaled exactly so both he and Batman could bend at the waist, the mouth also slides around so you can chat to people while waiting for your pint at the bar.**

Pete, who always played it safe at uni, had this to say: "He got covered in beer stains! I'm currently looking to find somewhere for him to live, he'd like an out of town mansion (ideally with a cave system below)."

Inspiration! Creativity! Dedication! Yorkshire Charm! We love all of these things. Talking of which (although perhaps not exclusive to Yorkshire) have you seen our Firebox Inventor competition? If you've got any of these attributes, or just a clever little idea, let us know!

*Three. In case you were wondering.
**We should probably mention, before you spend your lunch hours trying to recreate this with cereal boxes and double-sided sticky tape, that Pete is a professional Model Maker (no sniggering at the back) and recently won an award for a shelving unit. Fancy.

Kindly Support For Kindival

Kindival

In the current economic climate, there's surely no better time for a dose of niceness. Whether it's giving up your seat for a stranger on the train, holding the door open for someone, or simply smiling – kind gestures brighten up everyone’s day and they don’t cost a penny.

Kindival2

On Saturday, in support of the considerate folk from The Kindness Offensive (who advocate this type of nice behaviour) we took part in a Random Act of Kindness at ‘Kindival’.
‘Kindival’ was the first annual kindness event the UK has seen. Around 200 members of the public gathered to enjoy debates, workshops, art exhibitions, talks from luminaries, massage, yoga, magicians, jugglers, puppeteers, with an aim to spread the word about the relevance of kindness in modern day society. The whole event was free to attend, was filmed by Channel 4 and to brighten their day even further, the lucky lot were gifted with the coolest, quirkiest products that we could find in the depths of our warehouse… now that’s kind.

Another Friday and another excuse to post Firebox's top links from this week:

The above photo is an example of a real life application of a Fail Sticker, a product that's surely made of pure win.

It's Friday, the end of the week and a perfect time to blow off some steam. With that in mind here's Firebox's top links from the week:

And if that wasn't enough, how about some Friday Flash Fun in the form of The Space Game? (Think Desktop Tower Defence meets StarCraft.)
