We like... James Price

The following four films are from a series called 'People In Order', commissioned by the UK’s Channel 4 in 2006 and made by short film director James Price.

James says "The concept behind our films was simple: we asked ourselves if you can reveal something about life by simply arranging people according to scales. Three minutes is a very short time to communicate something – perhaps too short to tell a story, or to get to know a character – so we wanted to make this series by setting ourselves some very straightforward rules, and then following them through over a long trip. The rules had to be simple so it would take the audience virtually no time to understand them. We established what scales we’d look at, and then chose how each film would be framed. Then it was a case of getting in a campervan and driving round Britain, filming as many people as we could over 4 weeks in February, coping with microphones crackling and our camera refusing to work."

The Twitterverse Thinks Google will pay $507m to acquire Twitter

Logogoogle

With rumours circulating about Google being in late-stage talks to acquire Twitter, we asked Twitter what they thought the final cost to Google would be, while offering a shiny prize for the correct guess:

"Google buying Twitter? Guess closest $ price, winner gets $1 to spend at @firebox for every $1m. Tag guesses #firebox"*

Responses so far have ranged from "three goats and a cow" to $billions. The current mean average from @firebox followers (not including animals, sorry Daisy) is $507m.

New Product Test Helps Fireboxer!

Mattandshoes

We had the opportunity to test out a UK exclusive... and stock controller Matt Shone jumped (or ran) at the chance to trial Droidwear's SatNav Shoes. Matt is a semi professional runner - he's even represented Great Britain in various long distance events. He runs twice per day roughly covering 80-90 miles per week! He also isn't always conventional when it come to his training as quoted by one of his club mates: "Lunchtime runs would often include a stop off at the curry house to pick up the week's lunch supply, so the run back would be 2 or 3 miles with a carrier bag full of curries."

So instead of running his usual route we dropped him off in the middle of Woking - so all he had to do was put in the Woking postcode then his home postcode... and start running. The shoes did the talking (telling him where to go) while he did the w.. running!

Route

Apart from a few near accidents with cyclists Mr Shone did pretty well and he seamed very pleased with not having to worry about the route. "These shoes are great - I no longer have to spend time planning routes and memorising them - I can concentrate on thinking about my tea whilst running!"

SatNav Shoes are ONLY available at Firebox.com!
