Whodo? Youdoo!
On May 4th Sarah Lu the creator of Youdoodoll held a competition to find an artist to design and create a mural for them on the giant Pepe Jeanswall on Portobello Road London. The theme was "Miniature versions of us will take over the world"
Firebox's Customer Service agent James Powell entered a design based around World Domination. Showing two cartoon style characters with the blue prints for their Youdoodolls to take over the world.
All the entries were whittled down to a final 3 (including James's!) and so it was decided that the only way to settle things would be via a “Paint off!”. So on the 9th June James, along with two other finalists (Jacob Jacobs and Giulio Bigazzi) came to the Pepe Shop on Portobello road and started to paint a smaller version of their original designs.
The judging was then filmed for BBC2's next series of Dragon's Den by Sarah Lu (on behalf of Youdoodoll), Douglas Cordeaux (Pepe Jeans Creative Director) and Deborah Meaden (Dragons Den) judged the 3 pieces and decided on a winner. After a lot of paint splatter, sunburn and random comments from passing children and drunks out for a stroll, James was awarded "2nd Runner Up"....thats third place to you.
More photos of all the work and James's sunkist gurning face can be found on the Youdoodoll blog page.
