Firebox Gets All Roger Cook
Today our PR team almost got done by a long-serving International conman, posing as a journalist and asking for very expensive products to "borrow". What a complete loser!
This isn't the first time he's called us. In December 2006 he got away with stealing one of our French robot bunnies, Nabaztag. God only knows what he did to the poor rabbit. Anyway, today he called again trying the same con, which goes something like this "Hi, my name's Jonathan Kern and I co-created Wallpaper magazine. I'm launching a new title called Dream Interiors, a shiny, pretty magazine full of lovely things. Please could I borrow some very expensive products? Thanks everso."
But this time his fake posh accent and 2006 story didn't fool us, and we Nicky Campbelled-him sharpish! We've googled him and the results are fascinating. He's managed to steal a Lotus Esprit press car, he's mates with Ariel Sharon and he was arrested for impersonating former British F1 Grand Prix driver Jonathan Palmer. Totally bonkers.
Here is more dirt on Kern!
Thanks, The crime-fighting PR trio

I was one of Kern's many victims. Since the book I wrote on my experience with Kern was published, "I Fell in Love with a Con Man", I have been innundated with emails from other victims of his. I'm trying to do everything I can to stop him, but apparently it's not enough. Hopefully he'll get his just desserts one of these days. I refuse to accept that he's untouchable.
